On the weekend of March 25th and 26th, the De La Salle Wind Ensemble participated in the Worldstrides Heritage Festival in Boston. Del, once again was the only Canadian representative in a festival that boasted over 15 schools and almost 800 students.
After spending some time exploring the culture of the city, that included the famous Duck Boats, the Aquarium, famed Quincy Market and even some students (including Mr. Thompson) sitting in with a professional jazz trio at Ryles jazz club, we took to the stage to present our repertoire to 3 adjudicators.
The standard at this festival is very high, and the adjudicators were very meticulous. We prevailed and came away with the Gold. It was even more satisfying as it was our 5th Gold in a row, bringing our total to 8 Golds and 4 Silvers in 12 years of participation.
A huge "Thank You" to the administration for their support, and especially to Ms. Hogan, Ms. Lamonaca-Bada and Mr. Thompson for giving up their weekend to help keep everything running smoothly!!
Finally, Congratulations to the students for their hard work and patience, it has paid off again. We are looking forward to riding the wave into next year.
