March is a big month for Grade 10 students across Ontario. The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) measures whether students are meeting the minimum standard for literacy across all subjects up to the end of Grade 9.
Successful completion of the literacy test is one of the requirements to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
All students across the province write the test on the same date: March 31, 2020.
Students and parents are encouraged to continue reaching out to any member of the Student Services Department with any questions or concerns.
Tip from the Counsellors: Don’t forget to stop by Student Services to ensure the courses posted reflect your choices from registration. March Break is a great time to relax and recharge! Enjoy your time with family and friends and come back ready to end the year strong!

Alumni Spotlight: Sarah Baglione
My passion and love for animals fueled my aspiration to become a veterinarian at a very young age. However, it was my experience at Del that expanded my love for science and academia, which are necessary components to excel in the veterinary profession. My teachers prepared me for the intense post-secondary education that was yet to come by challenging me with advanced academic content and teaching me the discipline and work ethic required to succeed.
I graduated from Del in 2016 with honours and was awarded an entrance scholarship to the University of Guelph. I am currently in the fourth year of my undergraduate degree, completing a Bachelor of Science with a major in Animal Biology. By applying the foundation I gained at Del, I have excelled in the biological sciences throughout my university career. I’ve achieved Dean’s Honours List in my second, third and fourth year, which allowed me to become a competitive applicant to the number one veterinary school in Canada, the Ontario Veterinary College. While at Del, I was inspired by the fundamental Lasallian value to serve others. As a result, I invested time volunteering at a local veterinary clinic and recently travelled to Costa Rica to provide veterinary care with an organization that treats those in under-served communities. Del helped me develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve some of my personal goals and truly has shaped me into the person I am today.
