On October 27th, 2018, the Under-14 Boys’ Soccer Team won the CISAA championship at Holy Trinity School.
The boys defeated Ridley College 2-1 in extra time of the championship game. After going up 1-0 on a first half goal from Christopher D., Ridley College tied the match early in the second half. The teams remained deadlocked until the final whistle of regular time. In blistering conditions, Jordan O. chipped the opposing keeper in the second half of extra time to give Del the lead. The boys held on with some shrewd defending for the final four minutes of the game to take home the championship
“All season long, the team worked on and played an excellent brand of football,” said Mr. Voutsinos, who coached the team. “Everything came together in the finals, and we couldn’t have been more proud of the team. From day one they all showed a commitment to the team concept, and regardless of who was on the field, they never complained and always put forth their best effort.”
In the semi-finals, the boys defeated the first-placed hosts, Holy Trinity School, 3-1 with surgical precision. The boys finished the season with a 4-1-0 record in the regular season before rattling off three consecutive playoff victories to claim the league championship.
Opposing coaches and referees consistently commended the boys for their style of play and on field chemistry. Their hard work, determination and Lasallian spirit were key factors in the success of their season.
Team members include: Diego B., Filippo C., Mario C., Christopher D., Hector G., Marcos G., Lucas H., Darius M., Joonho L., Daniel N., Jordan O., Christian P., Paul P., Spencer R., Matteo R., Tiago R., Massimo R., Andrew S., Marcos S., Peter S., Emerson S., Christian S., Luca V., and Fabian Z.
With 13 grade sevens on the team this season, next year’s squad looks to be a formidable defending champion.
