On Monday, January 14th and Tuesday, January 15th, the Grade 12 Physics (SPH4U) class presented the innovative and creative thrills and excitement of their very own designed and engineered rollercoasters. The Grade 12 Physics students presented their end of term projects with great success and wonder. Their foundation in physics concepts, their creativity and ingenious designs allowed all of us to imagine and participate in the creativity and abstract thinking that is rooted in science. The challenge for these students was to design, engineer and build a rollercoaster within a 24 inch by 24 inch area, contain at least 2 loops and have a ride duration of 20 seconds. These students brought their very best! The submissions of work this year have superseded all of my expectations of these students and I am so very impressed and proud of the Grade 12 students for their hard work, commitment to the task, creativity and most importantly their ability to see physics in everything they do! Below you will find both a slide show of all of the designs and a highlight reel of some of the top creations. Enjoy!
