This past spring, three of our senior Debaters indicated that they would like to participate in the IISPSC in October 2020. The IISPSC is the International Independent Schools Public Speaking Competition. Of course, once the reality of the pandemic set in, the host school decided to run the tournament virtually. Our students held fast and chose to remain in the competition. Over 25 schools “sent” competitors, and over 105 individual students competed in a range of categories. Each student had to compete in three events. Two of those events were asynchronous and prerecorded in the preliminary rounds, and one event was synchronous. Our three competitors did an excellent job under challenging conditions. Mr. Schaeffer and Mr. Iacobazzi would like to recognize Elise Cressatti, Katie Grierson, and Brielle Robillard for representing De La Salle College in the October tournament. A special thank you to Mr. Bellisario, who assisted in judging at the event. We would like to especially congratulate Brielle Robillard, who qualified for the finals on Sunday, October 25, in the Dramatic Interpretation category. After the finals, we learned late on Sunday that Brielle had finished 2nd in her category, placing 14th overall. Congratulations to all of our team members!
