Del students continued their longstanding commitment and relationship with the Meagan’s Walk organization with the kick-off of the ILite (Intermediate Leaders In Training Event) Student Leadership Workshops, which were hosted at various Secondary Schools across the GTA from January 28 - January 31. This year, our Meagan’s Walk team of student leaders worked to design and lead workshops centred around Student Ambassadorship, the Call of Service and Faith to Action. Our Meagan’s Walk team was charged with addressing the role of students in spreading messages of hope and solidarity in support of children afflicted with brain tumours. “Oaklands” has been a proud supporter of the Meagan’s Walk organization for over 17 years and this year, our students were able to empower, educate and invite Grade 7 and 8 students to become advocates and champions of the Meagan’s Walk Hug, Crane Ceremony and 5 km walk in support of brain tumour research. Ms. Kim and I along with Ms. Kara Simpson, the Meagan’s Walk key organizer, are very excited to announce that the ILite experience proved to be a tremendous success. It was most valuable to have our Del ambassadors serve as some of the key contributors to the awareness of and fundraising for the Meagan’s Walk campaign.
