The end of a school year is always an extremely busy, yet exciting time for students, staff and parents. As we all look forward to a well-deserved summer break, we are mindful of the importance of a strong finish to the year. Although the students can tend to be more “enthusiastic” as summer approaches, it is important to acknowledge their efforts and positive attitudes throughout the year. I have always maintained that our students are De La Salle’s finest ambassadors. Please encourage your sons and daughters to maintain a positive attitude and strong level of commitment as we head towards the end of the 2018-2019 school year.
Next week we honour the 168th Graduating Class on Monday, June 3rd. In the hallway near the Chapel, there is a display which lists what we want our graduates to become. One of the goals states, “a De La Salle graduate will present himself or herself with confidence that never becomes arrogance, with security that never becomes haughtiness, and with compassion that never becomes condescension.” This is essential if our alumni are to go forward and be of service to others. I am confident our graduating students will leave Del ready to serve.
Please be reminded of the following:
- Monday, June 3rd -No Classes
- Tuesday, June 4th -Regular Classes
- Wednesday, June 5th -Regular Classes
- Thursday, June 6th -Exams Begin
On behalf of the entire staff, I would like to extend my gratitude for your on-going support of De La Salle College and its mission. As an educator and a parent of teenagers, I can appreciate the challenges and rewards of working with young people. As well, thank you for your words of support throughout the year as I re-adjust to life in the Main Office. It is a privilege to serve our students.
