It is noteworthy to recognize that Toronto’s blustering cold and snowy weather is no match for our determined and unshakeable Del community who continue to battle the winter forces.
Our Student Council worked tirelessly to prepare for what was an exciting and enjoyable day of fun for Winter Activity Day. We are pleased to report that this year, over ninety-seven percent of students embraced the spirit of the day. Whether it was scaling the rock-climbing wall, bracing for the down-hill tubing adventure or enjoying skate and movie on campus, faculty and students decided to hang up their uniforms and suits to experience merriment together. What a wonderful way to create some memorable moments.
The campus continues to buzz with winter athletes moving into the playoff season and with our musicians showcasing their talents at our annual Coffee House. Spelling was in the air this month as the House leaders created some noise for our first ever Spelling Bee. Preliminary elimination rounds led six courageous junior and senior finalists and three fearless teachers to the finals. As morning assembly concluded, the stage became the forum for our ambitious spellers. The rounds were intense, but elimination was fast and furious. We congratulate our winners for representing their Houses well.
Many thanks to teachers and parents who assisted our young scientists with our annual Science Fair. The student work was an amazing display of preparation and work. Kudos to all of our participants! With February having left us, we look forward to springing into the month of March with next week's “Carnaval” and Pancake Tuesday delights offered in the cafeteria. Most importantly, we look ahead in preparation for our Lenten season with our Ash Wednesday ceremony next week.
May we say goodbye to the cold and remain hopeful that next month with will bring with it some sunshine and time for family and friends to enjoy during the upcoming break.
