Coming Together is a Beginning

Coming Together is a Beginning

What an exciting beginning to the school year it has been on the Del campus. As we enter the new Fall season, it is with a sense of comfort and joy that I see our students busily engaged both in an out of the classroom. It has been wonderful seeing all the new faces in the corridors and it is nice to see how courteous and friendly our student community is.

Athletics have begun a successful start with our cross country, soccer and field hockey teams and our Eco Team and Art Club are in their beginning stages of exciting work. I am certain that this startup will prove to be a remarkable adventure for our athletes and leaders. Whether it’s Mr. Luchka beginning his casting calls for our budding “Misérables” singers and dancers or our Student Council members promoting our spirit wear, our Lasallian stars are certainly a bustling community ready to take action and shine.

Our first community event was yet again a very successful one and I thank our student leaders and our parent community who came together to generate spirit, support and to offer a wonderful fundraising event for Terry Fox Cancer Research. Sporting our House colours with pride, the day always seems to generate a sense of comradery and community which speaks to the core values of our school. As the month comes to a close, the end of September typically marks the beginning of our annual Lasallian Days of Peace, and we thank our Lasallian Youth Team for participating in this Global Campaign with our fellow Lasallian partners again this year.

As we move ahead into October, we wish our Grade 5,6 and 7 students a ‘bon voyage’ and safe travels as they begin their excursions to Montreal and Ontario Pioneer Camp respectively, and we thank their teachers for their efforts and support for these activities. As we continue with our academic year let us be reminded by the following words by Henry Ford: Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress and working together is success.

Enjoy the weekend,

Ms. Di Prospero
Vice Principal
