Retreats

Grade 5

On Friday, November 25th, Ms. Bell hosted the gr. 5 retreat at St. Benedict Parish in Etobicoke. The grade 5s are on the first stage of the Hero’s Journey called, “The Ordinary World” which, in our journey with Christ, focuses on the Creation Story.

Our grade 5 retreat is very unique as it was created and facilitated by a few of our gr. 11 & 12 Lasallian Youth Team Members.

A big thank you to each of these students for sharing their stories, and for being a witness of Christ’s Love:

On Monday, November 28th, Ms. Bell hosted the 6 retreat at St. Benedict Parish in Etobicoke. The grade 6s are on stage two, “The Call to Adventure.” This retreat introduced who the Person of the Holy Spirit is and how the Holy Spirit can help us hear the call, or the mission (the adventure), God is asking each of us to be a part of.

Our grade 5 & 6 retreats are very unique as they were created and facilitated by a few of our gr. 11 & 12 Lasallian Youth Team Members.

A big thank you to each of these students for sharing their stories, and for being a witness of Christ’s Love:

Grade 9

Over the last few weeks Ms. Bell hosted two retreats on campus, one for each half of the grade 9’s. Check out the photos from those two great days here:

Grade 10

On Friday, November 18th and Monday, November 21st, the gr. 10s walked to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Toronto for their retreat. With the Hero’s Journey, the gr. 10 retreat focused on Stage 7: The Approach and Stage 8: The Ordeal. The OCY Missionaries in collaboration with HopeStone, from the Office of Catholic Youth in the Archdiocese of Toronto, lead the activities and talks for the day.

Each activity challenged the students to reflect on what it means to be “great.” The day began with a heads-or-tails ice breaker game and a few activities helping us recognize what we attach our identities to. We heard three talks reflecting on the questions… Do we know how great we are? What does it mean to be called to a life of “greatness”? Are we living a life of “greatness” or a life of comfort right now? The retreat ended with a time of personal prayer. The students wrote letters to their future selves, about the “greatness” God is calling them to in their current and future lives.

Grade 11

In the last week of February, Ms. Bell and a group of staff took the Grade 11's to Queen of Apostles Renewal Centre in Mississauga for their retreat. The retreat was run by OCY Missionaries (Office of Catholic Youth) and HopeStone Missionaries.

This was the first time they had run this specific retreat and it was a success. Thank you to OCY for the great work!

It was a great few days of learning, reflecting and growing for all.
