How to Apply

De La Salle College strives for a diverse student population and hopes to attract young men and women with excellent academic skills; interest in a variety of co-curricular experiences; and the potential to contribute to the school community with a positive attitude. Entrance to De La Salle College is competitive and an early application is recommended. The following information relates to the total numbers of spaces available for the 2019-2020 academic year:

  • 20-25 students will be admitted to grade 5
  • 20 students will be admitted to grade 6
  • 25 students will be admitted to grade 7
  • 50-60 students will be admitted to grade 9

Grade 5 & 6

Step 1: Complete the Online Application Form
-the application form can be found by clicking here
-a non-refundable application fee of $125.00 must accompany
each online application
All online applications are due by November 30, 2018
Step 2: Submit Supplementary Documentation
-upload your child's June 2017 and June 2018 FINAL report cards
to the online application
-when available, upload your child's Fall 2018 progress report
to the online application
-upload a copy of your child's most recent standardized test
results (i.e. CAT, CCAT, EQAO)
**Note: you can submit the online application without these documents, however they are still required in order to book an interview date**

 

Interviews will only be scheduled once both FINAL report cards and Student Profile have been received by the Admissions Office.
All additional documentation must be submitted to complete the overall application.

 

Step 3: Student Profile & Letter of Reference
-please have your child's current teacher or principal complete the Student Profile Form, which you can download here. The Student Profile must be emailed or mailed directly to Ms. Berta Carreco by the teacher, or in person in a sealed envelope
-a Letter of Reference for your child is also required and can be composed by either a teacher, principal, coach, mentor, or
religious figurehead, which can be emailed/mailed to the school ahead of time or submitted in person at the time of the scheduled interview

Step 4: Entrance Exam
-the mandatory entrance exam will be conducted at De La Salle College
-a $35.00 processing fee will be added to your online application
-sample questions for the exam will be emailed to all candidates in January

The Entrance Exam will be held on February 2, 2019 at De La Salle College "Oaklands"
Step 5: Interview
-interviews are conducted Monday-Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
-your child can prepare an answer to one of two questions from the Student Questions (available here) to discuss during their interview
Based on submission of online application and supplementary documents received by the
Admissions Office, you will be contacted to schedule an interview between October and February
Step 6: Admission Status Notification
-families will be notified of their child's offer admission, wait-list status or decline of admission by email

 

Families will be notified by email on February 22, 2019

 

Grade 7 & 9

Step 1: Complete the Online Application Form

Step 4: SSAT (Secondary School Admissions Test)
-Please visit the SSAT website here for test dates and registration information
-Students can write the test anywhere, however De La Salle College will host a Standard Test Administration on Saturday, November 10, 2018
-Please ensure your child's results are forwarded to De La Salle College
(ID code #2789)

 

It is recommended that students
write the SSAT between September, 2018 and January 12, 2019 
to be considered for the 2019/2020 academic year.

Grade 8*, 10-12

Should you wish your child to apply for a position in grades 8, 10-12, the College will review applications on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the Admissions Office for more details.

*Applicants applying to Grade 8 must write the SSAT in order to complete the application.
