March 25th Newsletter- Spring is here!
With March Break over and the Spring solstice passed, it's safe to say we're in the final stretch of this school year. Over Break, signs of good weather on campus appeared for the first time in months and although Toronto gave us some wild weather this week, it looks like we may be safe to declare Spring!
With Spring comes a lot of exciting things. Spring sports start next week, outdoor recess will trade heavy jackets for sunglasses, and Easter is right around the corner. I think it’s safe to say after another tough Winter (for a variety of reasons), we’re all ready for Spring and the many blessings it carries.
Welcome to Spring and here’s to a great final stretch of the 2021-22 school year!
A Message from Administration
In honour of Dr. Sagrati's talks, Mr. Voutsinos writes a reflection on his time at Del, what he learned here and why Dr. Sagrati brought him back to "The Good Old Days".
The Feast of the Annunciation and the Consecration of Russia and Ukraine
This week, Brother Domenic wrote a message to the Del community about today (The Feast of Annunciation) and the Consecration of Russia and Ukraine.
Our Lasallian Youth leaders have demonstrated leadership supporting the recent Ukrainian conflict. With the recent attacks, many Ukrainians were left with nearly nothing and need items and essentials. With the help of our community, the Lasallian Youth Group with the help of the Meagan’s Hug organization, will be forwarding all of these much-needed items to the families in need. We are grateful to the community for sending in food, clothing, and offering donations over the last few weeks. The quantity of support and gifts received as a result of the DEL family's donations has been remarkable. On behalf of the Lasallian Youth Team, we thank you very much for your support.
Ms. Bell provides a piece on the Solemnity of the Annunciation and the Consecration to Mary for Russia and Ukraine.
What's Going on in the Classroom?
This week on Wednesday and Friday we were lucky enough to have Dr. Sandra Sagrati speak to students during homeroom. Each talk was with one of Junior or Senior School and focused on mental health and staying positive!
Outdoor Recess on the first Spring day on campus of 2022 was a beautiful thing!

Mr. Vlahovic gives a final recap on Del's winter 2022 skiing team!
The Artists in Conversation Speaker Series Club has welcomed an artist every week to share with us their story, inspiration, and tips and tricks! We ended the series with a wonderful, local artist who is the talent behind the illustrations on The Great Canadian Bake Show. Ms. Kenna Barnes shared with us her story from learning art as a colour blind student, to studying Design, then working in an animation student, to becoming a freelance food illustrator. Ms. Barnes also shared the ins and outs of business for artists and told us of resources that she came across her journey. It was an absolute joy and an honour to have an artist walk us through her path, and to willingly welcome and answer all the questions the students had. We look forward to welcoming Ms. Kenna Barnes for next year's series!
On Wednesday Link Crew had its first event of the Spring!
