Classes Are Over and Exams are Underway!
It's safe to say that a lot has happened in the last two weeks. Grade 12's had their last days of high school classes, exams are underway in-person for the first time since the spring of 2019, ENCORE! finally debuted and so much more!
Before we focus on exams and wrapping up the whole school year, let's look back to the jam packed final two weeks of classes for 2021-22:

Exam Reminders
As we head into the third day of examinations on Monday, I wish the students much luck and continued success and they prepare for their upcoming exams. Students are reminded to review the Examination procedures and policies as they prepare for their upcoming sessions.
General reminders:
- Students who are ill and miss an examination must have a parent contact the main office.
- Students must arrive to examination session on time. Any late arrivals must report to the main office.
- Students must be in full uniform during examination sessions (blazer is not mandatory).
- Students are to remain in examination session for the entirety of the session.
- Cell phone policy in effect during examination session.
- Cafeteria/snack bar services will be limited during exam sessions.
- Contents of student lockers are to be removed no later than June 17th 2022. Any items that remain will be discarded.
- Any student items remaining in classrooms must be retrieved no later than June 17th 2022.
The Used Book Sale is Around the Corner
We hope to see you at the upcoming Used Book sale as a Seller, a Buyer or both! We are pleased to confirm the details for the 2022 sale. Please review all the information below and on the Book Sale Portal around selling, buying, and requesting used books.
By participating in the Used Book sale, you can save money and support the school. Used Book Prices for Buyers tend to be 35% or more off full list price. Used Book proceeds for Sellers tend to be higher than reselling through a traditional retailer
What to do next? First check out the 2022/23 Book lists to see what to Sell and what to Buy. Remember the Used Book Sale can only sell (intake) texts that remain on the list from this year.
Sellers, please consult the Year / Year Changes list to help with preparing your books for sale. Note the Intake days / times on June 20th / 21st only
Buyers, you have 2 options to purchase books. You can complete an Online Request Form before the sale week and be entered into a Lottery. The other option is to come in person this year during the sale days/ times on June 23rd / 24th. Whichever method works for you, book orders will be picked up during June 23rd / 24th only. Please see the Book Sale portal for further details:
The Annual Father Michael Luchka Memorial Golf Tournament
Teachers, parents, alumni, the Del community are welcome to attend this year’s annual golf tournament! The tournament is Tuesday June 28th at Cardinal Golf Club

Grade 12's Last Day
Between the tradition of signing each other's jackets to the major water fight at the end of the day, it's safe to say the class of 2022 had a memorable final day of classes at Del!
Grade 8 Ceremony
Last week the Grade 8's experienced an awesome celebration put on by parents transitioning them from Junior School to Senior School for next year. For the full ceremony video and photos of the event:

The living wall is up and running in the Rocco L. Martino Innovation Centre. From cool plants to a ton of fish in the fish tank below, this wall has instantly become one of the coolest spots on campus!

This month, Nicole DeJesus took home first place in a poetry contest that featured students from across the province.

Grade 11 Chemistry Award
22 Grade 11 Chemistry students wrote the University of Waterloo Avogadro Chemistry Exam. The exam covers Grade 11 content and is written by students at the national and international level. Ruth McDonald took top spot at De La Salle, not only scoring the highest at DEL but scoring above both the Canadian and International averages. Notable mentions are extended to Craig Lewis, Sarah Sirizzotti, Neven Dittburner and Simon Whittaker. Congrats to all!
A Great Last Week of Labs!
Between a pig dissection and the classic Grade 11 Titration Lab, the new labs in the Innovation Centre were put to good use to close the year!
Drama's Final Class
To take one final bow at the close of this school year, Grades 10, 11, and 12 Drama students were given the difficult task to express themselves through creative performance art.
Grade 5 French Play
To finish a great year, Ms. Ceschia’s Grade 5 French class presented the play : Comment y aller? to members of the French department and Ms. Berardi’s Grade 6 French class.
Dr. Jane Heffernan Speaks to Grade 11 and 12 Science Students

In continuing with the tradition of the school’s original De La Salle Cadet Corps founded prior to Confederation, The Corps hosted its 18th Annual Inspection since its re-activation in 2004.
