An Easter Message From Brother Domenic

"At Easter, we should thank God for the gift of faith. A faith that comes from the belief in the Risen Christ. This gift of faith enables us to be witnesses to the reality of the Resurrection in our days."

Announcements

I am happy to announce the launch of the DE LA SALLE 2022-23 STUDENT AGENDA FRONT AND BACK COVER CONTEST.

We love to get you involved in various ways in the life of the school and over the last number of years, the students have been invited to participate in a contest to design the cover of the Student Agenda. We are so proud of our students’ artistic talents, and we would like to showcase the winning artistic selection by using it as the 2022-23 front cover of the Student Agenda. We will also accept entries this year for the back cover of the agenda. More chances for you to showcase your creativity!

Please take your time to think about how you think you can capture De La Salle in a personal and artistic way. Send your entries to Ms. Di Prospero no later than Friday May 13th via email at: ldiprospero@delasalle.ca and be sure to remember to find a spot on your design to display your initials/name.   I look forward to receiving your artistic interpretations. The winning selection will be announced on Tuesday May 24th.

Best of luck!

Ms. Di Prospero

Del Unveils New Website

This week we were extremely excited to unveil our updated website!

Meagan's HUG Crane Ceremony Comes to Del

Today, De La Salle hosted the Meagan’s HUG Crane Ceremony. This event is a kickoff to our school-wide event, on May 3rd, and our official walk and hug, on May 7th.

The paper crane represents a symbol of hope, compassion, and kindness, an act of love for our heroes fighting to know that they are not alone.

This is a sneak peak of the event, which will be available on April 29th. This incredible day gives us the opportunity to honour those fighting and their families and is a display of love, hope, and unity.

We are excited to announce the return of the Annual Father Michael Luchka Memorial Golf Tournament!

"Someone asked me once, which liturgical season do you like better? Advent or Lent? I said Lent because it’s an opportunity to try to understand and embrace suffering from a man who experienced suffering that He didn’t deserve but went through, to give us a second chance."

What's Going on in the Classroom?

Assembly is back in person!

One of the most important aspects of our school is that each morning we come together for an assembly to listen to Oh Canada, Pray and be together as a community. Sadly, the past two years have stopped this from happening.

However, this past week we were able to start gathering again and it's been a beautiful thing. Although we can't have everyone yet, it's been great to rotate through our homerooms and join together once more.

Whether it be listening to our talented band students, joining a teacher in reflection or just the general idea of being together, it's been a welcome start to spring!

Grade 7 Bridges

As part of the Structures unit, Ms. Liaconis’ Grade 7 Science students were tasked with the challenge of constructing a popsicle stick bridge. Each bridge included a minimum of 3 design elements (trusses, arches, beams etc.) and could hold the weight of one textbook.

More Info and Photos

In preparation for Easter, the Grade 5 students made posters to reflect on Jesus' life and the events of Holy Week.

Ms. Cescon's students worked hard in the arena and these are the results!

Spring Sports Are Back!

It's officially golf season and our golfers at Del are hard at work! Mr. Mason has our golf simulator going every day after school working with students on their swings and preparing for their tournaments coming up later this spring!

Other sports are also underway every day outside and in the gym, it's safe to say the spring season is underway.
