Model UN

Model United Nations, or Model UN, is a simulation of United Nations procedures. Participants will role-play as UN delegates and engage in negotiations, discussions, and lively debates, the cornerstones of UN Activity. Model UN educates students about current events, international relations and diplomacy skills. Along with knowledge of the world we live in, participants develop skills in public speaking and presentation, persuasion, analysis of situations, research and critical thinking. Participants become diplomats, researching a country, and proposing plausible solutions to world issues. Through debate, deliberation, and compromise, delegates will draft a United Nations resolution with clauses that address and mitigate or resolve the stated issue. This club will be open to students in Grades 9-12, and no prior experience to Model UN or debate would be necessary.
