Class of 1969 Reunion

On October 2, 2021, the classes of 1965 – 1969 united on the De La Salle College “Oaklands” campus for their fiftieth reunion.  It was amazing to see them making the effort to commute from all over North America to congregate and maintain the special bond they developed while studying here at De La Salle.  Precautions were taken as safety was the priority, however, the event was executed well, and all participants were able to enjoy each other’s company.  Mike Moszynski (Class of 1969) was happy to summarize the event for our community and share some of the highlights from the weekend.

A lot of effort paid off with a great Fiftieth Reunion in early October 2021.

In 2019 several members of the graduating class of 1969 decided to see what was involved in organizing a fiftieth anniversary class reunion. They had seen others get together and this seemed like a great way to renew friendships and share experiences at Del since graduation. Over the next several months the group contacted Del and began seeking out classmates who had scattered all over Canada and the United Sates. Through hard work and detective skills the organizing team found contact information for approximately 45 classmates and a high degree of interest in attending a Reunion event.

Aiming to make the Fiftieth Reunion a memorable event, the organizing team planned a full weekend of activities including an informal Friday night pub night, a boat tour of Toronto Harbour; a Toronto walking tour for those from out of town, a Saturday afternoon tour of Del; a gala Saturday evening dinner for 45 people sponsored by one of our classmates, a Sunday morning memorial service for those of our classmates who had passed away and finally, a Sunday morning brunch. These events were well-attended and provided a number of opportunities that helped the fifty years slip away.

COVID-19 complicated the scheduling of the Reunion weekend and required two postponements as well as arranging Rapid Testing of all attendees for the Del tour and the Saturday evening event.

The organizing team members were Mike Baptiste, Marek Dzieduszycki, Paul Egli, Noel Francisco, Geoff Hurley, Peter Gilgan, Mike Moszynski, Kevin Neary, Anthony Scanga, Enzo Villa, and Peter Walton, .

Del’s office of Alumni Affairs and Brother Domenic were extremely helpful throughout the planning process and over the course of the weekend; their assistance was much appreciated and stands out as a reminder of the values that Del represents.

The class had a great time and looks forward to its next Reunion!
